Chess Buddy AI("we", "our", or "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our application handles information when you use our mobile app and website.

a. Personal Information

We do NOT collect any personally identifiable information such as:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number

b. Gameplay Data

The app may temporarily store game-related data such as:

  • Chess moves
  • Game session data (for online multiplayer)

This data is:

  • Used only for gameplay functionality
  • Not linked to your identity
  • Automatically deleted after the game ends

c. Device Information

We do NOT collect:

  • Location
  • Contacts
  • Files or storage

d. Anonymous Usage Analytics

To understand how the app is used and improve the experience, we collect anonymous usage data, including:

  • A randomly generated device identifier (UUID) — not linked to your identity
  • App open events (how often the app is launched)
  • Feature interactions (e.g. which game modes are started or completed)

Important:

  • The device identifier is randomly generated and contains no personal information
  • Analytics data cannot be used to identify you
  • This data is never sold or used for advertising
  • It is used solely to improve app features and stability

Online Multiplayer

For online gameplay, we use a cloud database (Firebase) to:

  • Create temporary game sessions
  • Sync moves between players in real-time

Important:

  • No account or login is required
  • Sessions are temporary and deleted after completion
  • No personal data is stored

Cookies and Tracking

We do NOT use:

  • Cookies
  • Advertising trackers
  • Cross-app tracking

We do collect anonymous in-app usage analytics (described in Section 1d) to understand how features are used. This analytics data is not tied to your identity and is not shared with advertisers.

Third-Party Services

We use Firebase (by Google) for the following purposes:

  • Online multiplayer — to create and sync temporary game sessions
  • Anonymous usage analytics — to store aggregated, non-personal app usage counters

Firebase may process limited technical data (such as IP addresses during network requests) as part of normal cloud service operation. No personal data is sent to Firebase beyond what is described in this policy. You can review Firebase's privacy policy here:

Children's Privacy

Chess Buddy AI is designed to be safe for children.

We:

  • Do NOT collect personal information from children
  • Provide a safe, non-toxic communication system (limited emojis and predefined messages)

We take reasonable measures to protect data. Since we do not store personal data, risk is minimal.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected on this page.

Data Retention and Deletion

We are committed to minimizing data collection and protecting user privacy. Chess Buddy AI does not require users to create an account and does not collect or store personally identifiable information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or location data.

The app may temporarily process limited technical or gameplay-related data to enable core functionality. For example, during online multiplayer sessions, temporary game data (such as moves or session codes) may be transmitted and stored briefly to synchronize gameplay between players. This data is automatically deleted after the session ends or within a short retention period.

We do not use data for advertising or profiling purposes. Anonymous usage analytics (app opens, feature interactions, and a randomly generated device identifier) are retained to improve the app experience and are not linked to any individual user.
